Summa strives every day to help you reach your full potential. However, you may still be dissatisfied with something at the school. Because we're committed to improving our services, we'd like to hear from you about any concerns you may have.
Do you want to file a complaint? Then it is important to first read how that works at Summa. For this, please read the overview of complaints procedures and read the information below carefully.
Complaints and disputes reporting point
You can contact the Complaints and Disputes Helpdesk with all your complaints, disputes, objections, and appeals. The fastest and most convenient way is to use the complaint form below. The helpdesk staff will ensure your complaint is forwarded to the correct person. They also monitor your complaint for timely response. If you have any questions or need assistance completing the complaint form, you can also reach the helpdesk by email: complaint@summacollege.nl.
Complaints about exams
If you do not agree with a decision of the Examination Board, you can appeal within two weeks via this form File an appeal with the external Examination Appeals Committee. This committee will issue a decision within four to six weeks after holding a hearing. The Commission's regulations can be found here (Pdf). For English click here.
Complaints about the binding study advice
Students receive a binding study advice halfway through their first year of school. If you disagree with your binding study advice, you can contact us within two weeks via this form. form File an appeal with the external Examination Appeals Committee. This Committee will issue a decision within four to six weeks after holding a hearing. The Commission's regulations can be found here (pdf).
Complaints about decisions
Summa often makes decisions about individual (prospective) students. For example, the decision to enroll or not enroll in a program or to expel a student from the program after serious misconduct. If you disagree with such a personal decision about you, you can contact us via the complaint form contact the Disputes Advisory Committee. This can be done within 6 weeks of the date of the decision. You can find more information about this committee in the Dispute Advisory Committee Regulations (Pdf).
Complaints about undesirable conduct
If you have reports about social safety, (sexual) harassment, discrimination, aggression and violence, you can contact the confidant from your school. They can help you further and refer you if necessary.
Complaints about internship discrimination/improper deployment
An important part of every vocational education (MBO) institution is internships (called vocational training (BPV)) at an accredited training company. Unfortunately, national research has shown that some students encounter discrimination both upon admission and during their internships. Internship discrimination is treating (a) student(s) differently, discriminating against them, or excluding them based on (personal) characteristics. Discrimination on the following grounds is prohibited by law: religion, belief, political affiliation, race, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, marital status, disability or chronic illness, and/or age. To reduce discrimination and help students in cases of internship discrimination, Summa has a separate Grant made. If a student experiences internship discrimination, this can be reported within Summa to their own mentor or internship supervisor. This can be done directly or through the complaint formStudents can also report outside the Summa at discrimination.nl.
Another issue that arises during internships is the improper use of interns. Improper use occurs when students are employed as full-fledged employees, shifting their duties from an internship to an (active) contribution to achieving the company's primary objective. If you encounter this as a student, you can report it to your own mentor or internship supervisor. This can be done directly or through the complaint form.
Complaints about serious abuses
Through the so-called whistleblowing scheme, you can safely report a suspicion of misconduct within Summa.
The policy applies to social situations where the environment, safety, or health of individuals and/or organizations are at risk. You can also report criminal offenses, violations of the law, or unethical behavior through this policy. You can read how to report suspected misconduct and the procedure that follows in the whistleblower policy.
Other complaints
We believe it's important that you first talk to the person at Summa directly involved in the situation. If you can't resolve this together, you can report it via this complaint form submit to the principal of your school who will handle this within 10 school days.
If you are still not satisfied with the handling of your report, you can submit a formal complaint to the Complaints Committee using the form on the left side of this page. If you are 18 years or older and would like someone else to file a complaint on your behalf, please attach an authorization to represent you to the complaint form.
