Today and tomorrow

Summa chooses sustainable

Sustainability is in our DNA. At Summa, we don't see sustainability as a fad, but as the way forward. Our strategy summa 2030 We are fully committed to a future where people, the environment, and society are central. We don't just want to educate, we want to inspire. We don't just talk, we want to do.

Our social responsibility is to educate students for the future. This is a future where sustainability is an integral part of everything. Everyone at Summa—student, teacher, and staff—is given the space and responsibility to contribute to a sustainable society. We build meaningful connections and educate people with an eye for the world of tomorrow.

We create the future together

The Sustainable Development Goals Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's) The United Nations' SDGs are our compass needle. They guide our education and how we work daily on issues like climate, energy, healthy buildings, and responsible procurement. The power of the SDGs? They are globally supported and interconnected. Those who focus on equal opportunities also contribute to greater well-being, reduced inequality, and a healthy planet.

What makes these goals unique? They paint a picture of a future where progress benefits everyone, where climate change is halted, and all people can live in peace and prosperity. The unique nature of the SDGs means they are interconnected; making progress on one goal often leads to progress on another, or sometimes even on multiple goals. In this way, we contribute to the development of an inclusive, sustainable, and vibrant society.

Our sustainability report

Click here for our most recent sustainability report (March 2026).

Summa has prepared a sustainability report in which we demonstrate the steps we are taking regarding the environment, social policy, and good governance. In this report, we describe how we are working to reduce our CO₂ emissions, make our buildings more sustainable, and encourage conscious and sustainable behavior among employees and students. We also pay attention to themes such as social safety, health, and inclusivity within our organization.

The results show that we are already taking significant steps towards a more sustainable organization. At the same time, we continue to improve. Therefore, we have drawn up concrete actions and ambitions for the coming years so that sustainability becomes increasingly embedded in our education and operations.

Sustainability in action

We translate sustainability into concrete steps. We do this through three key areas:

Education with a future
We integrate sustainability into all our programs. Through classes, projects, and internships, students discover how they can make a positive impact. This helps them develop into the conscious professionals of tomorrow.

Green in our business operations
Our business operations demonstrate in practice what we want to teach students about sustainability. Our buildings are becoming increasingly energy-neutral, circular, and healthy. We invest in smart solutions that demonstrate that sustainability can also be comfortable and cost-efficient. We are inclusive; together we can achieve more.

Sustainable mobility for everyone
We map travel behavior and encourage conscious choices. We encourage cycling, public transport, shared transportation—anything that contributes to lower emissions.

An important strategic pillar
To realize our future dreams and to reach our higher and bolder goal, it is important that we bring focus to our activities. In our strategic ambitions We've formulated five pillars. Sustainability is a key priority for us. Only in this way can we continue to contribute to an inclusive, sustainable, and resilient society. You can read how we put this into practice in the various articles below.
