VeVa – Prospective non-commissioned officer Safety and Craftsmanship MBO nurse (bol)
More information.
What are you becoming?
After completing the training, you can work for various defense branches or in regular healthcare. You'll become a confident healthcare professional. You're a strong team player and take responsibility. You'll be able to find your niche in a variety of nursing/care roles.
What does your education look like?
The program begins with a foundation year for all students, where you'll explore which profession suits you best. The two programs you can pursue with us are Nursing Assistant (VIG-er) or Vocational Nurse (VPK). With this diploma, you can work in both regular healthcare and the Ministry of Defence. Right from the first year, you'll begin electives that introduce you to the basic principles of the Ministry of Defence. Furthermore, through a short-term internship in healthcare, you'll explore regular healthcare settings, such as nursing homes, home care, and rehabilitation.
During the first year of the program, you'll meet regularly with your study advisor (SLB). At the end of the first year, you and your SLB must decide together whether you want to progress to the VIG or VPK program. Your attitude, results, and experience during your internship will be considered, among other things.
Because you've chosen VeVa, you'll receive Defense Department electives. This ensures you'll receive military instruction and sports as part of your program. During the program, you'll also gain 4-6 weeks of experience in basic military skills at the barracks.
From the second year of both programmes, you will undertake larger blocks of consecutive internships in healthcare to gain a thorough understanding of the profession.
For VIG students, year 3 is the final year of their exams. Ultimately, you'll meet the VIG requirements, be well-prepared for the future, and have the option of continuing your studies to a Level 4 program or joining the Defense Department.
The third year of the VPK consists of consecutive internships in civilian healthcare and the opportunity to specialize in crisis management within an elective module, typically encountered within the Defense Department. Internships in psychiatry and hospitals are also available from the third year onward.
Year 4 of the VPK is the final year. You'll spend almost the entire school year interning in healthcare and attending return days at school. Once you've earned your nursing diploma, you can apply for the Ministry of Defence, work in healthcare, or continue your studies at a university of applied sciences.
