First car damage repairer (bbl)

Car in a scrunch? You'll smooth it out!

If a car is wrecked, they'll come to you. As the first-line repair technician, you know how to handle dents and cracks in bumpers and doors. You can also handle broken or damaged car windows. Within your company, you're the first point of contact for car damage. 

At school, you'll learn about the various repair steps: assembling and disassembling parts, removing dents and straightening body panels, preparing for the paint shop, painting, and delivery. During your training, you'll also learn about electronics and hydraulics and hone skills such as teamwork and planning.

The most beautiful models arrive in your workshop perfectly polished. By the time you're done with them, they'll look as good as new. In our specially equipped practical center, you'll work with state-of-the-art technical equipment. This way, you'll be well-prepared for a career in automotive engineering!

What are you becoming?

As a first-time car body repairer, you might work at a body shop or the car body repair department of a garage. Once you've completed this training and gained the necessary work experience, you can also progress to the Level 3 Car Body Repair Technician or Level 4 Technical Manager training.

What does your education look like?

You work 4 days a week at a training company and go to school at the practical center 1 day a week.

What prior education do you need?

For the vocational training (level 3) and middle management training (level 4) you must meet one of the following conditions:

  • You have a diploma in pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) with a pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) track, a theoretical pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) track, or a mixed pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) track.
  • You have an (older) diploma from lbo, vbo, mavo or mavo-vbo.
  • You have a basic vocational training diploma (level 2) or a diploma from another vocational training course (level 3).
  • You have proof that you successfully completed the first three years of pre-university or senior general secondary education (havo) or pre-university education (vwo). Or you have another diploma or certificate recognized by the government.

Additionally

  • Do you have a vocational diploma in Car Body Repair Level 2? Then you can enroll in the second year of the program.

Work

During a personal interview or introductory meeting, we'll determine if this program is a good fit for you. To participate in this program, you must work at an accredited training company. If you don't work for such a company, we'll help you find a suitable work placement. You'll be responsible for finding one yourself.
