Educational employee childcare (bol)

Completely at home in the world of children

As children get older, their world expands. As a childcare professional, you'll work with children aged 0 to 12. You'll make a significant contribution to their development and care for the youngest ones. With you, they feel safe.

Working in childcare

Parents choose to send their children to childcare for various reasons. For example, because both parents work, they're single, or because it's beneficial for the child's development. It's reassuring to have peace of mind when sending your child to childcare. As a childcare professional, you guide children in their development and provide the care they need.

You organize development-focused activities so that children can learn and develop through play. You also consider the children's diverse interests, talents, and ages. You also ensure that parents stay informed by communicating openly, kindly, and enthusiastically.

Training for pedagogical childcare worker

Are you someone who:

  • A real go-getter?
  • Are you a strong communicator and social person?
  • Have a lot of patience?
  • Can you work well with others?

Then don't wait any longer! Groups of children are eager to create the most beautiful drawings for you and experience your guidance and care as they learn and grow through play. In the pedagogical assistant program, you'll learn everything you need to put your skills to work. You'll receive lessons in pedagogy and learn not only how to best interact with children, but also how to have conversations with parents and caregivers. You'll also receive lessons in sports, games, and drama, so you can plan the most fun activities for the children.

Internship

Practical experience is crucial for training as a childcare professional. Every child and every situation is different. By applying theory in practice, you'll learn how to best handle various situations. You'll complete an internship each year, usually at a daycare center, preschool, childcare center, or after-school program.

Educational worker or specialized educational worker?

Are you applying for pedagogical work (full-time) at Summa Zorg & Welzijn? You'll start in the first year in a combined group of students. At the end of the first year, you and your career counselor will choose a pedagogical childcare worker (level 1 program) or specialized educational worker (level 4 training).

The main difference between the programs, besides the level, is that you'll perform more coordinating tasks. You'll be the point of contact for parents and colleagues. You'll also identify any delays and potential problem behaviors and tailor your support accordingly.
