Housing Advisor (work-based learning)

You convince through your knowledge of products and interiors

As a residential consultant, you'll work for high-end home furnishing companies or specialty furniture stores. You're adept at interacting with customers and know better than anyone how to influence them through presentation and promotion.

You'll also be an expert in the product range, providing design advice and advising on colors and wall finishes. To this end, you'll stay abreast of industry trends and developments and apply this knowledge of diverse styles to all aspects of your work. You'll serve as a role model and mentor colleagues with your specialized knowledge.

At Summa's De Run location, you'll learn in a renovated, inviting environment full of practical training rooms. You'll be surrounded by people who share your passion for construction, home improvement, and interior design. The positive atmosphere ensures you can thrive.

At school, you'll learn about service, customization, orders, complaints, and product range. Lessons also cover how to design and decorate a store and how to present items attractively to boost sales.

What are you becoming?

After completing this program, you can work as a sales specialist specializing in furniture, kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, home textiles, home accessories, parquet and laminate flooring, and lighting. Not finished yet? Then you can enroll in the second year of Retail Manager and complete your Level 4 qualification in two years.it is then It's important that you've completed your language and math courses at a higher level. We'll discuss your options, of course.

What does your education look like?

You'll attend school one day a week. You'll also work four days a week at a training company, earning a salary.

Elective courses

During your studies, you'll choose one or more electives to specialize or broaden your knowledge. For example, Living, Advanced Visual Merchandising, or Interior Styling. What prior education do you need?

For the vocational training (level 3) and middle management training (level 4) you must meet one of the following conditions:

  • You have a diploma in pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) with a pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) track, a theoretical pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) track, or a mixed pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) track.
  • You have an (older) diploma from lbo, vbo, mavo or mavo-vbo.
  • You have a basic vocational training diploma (level 2) or a diploma from another vocational training course (level 3).
  • You have proof that you successfully completed the first three years of pre-university or senior general secondary education (havo) or pre-university education (vwo). Or you have another diploma or certificate recognized by the government.

Work at a recognized training company

During a personal interview or introductory meeting, we'll determine if this program is a good fit for you. To participate in this program, you must work at an accredited training company. If you don't work for such a company, we'll help you find a suitable work placement. You'll be responsible for finding one yourself.
