What are you becoming?
After completing this program, you can work at a daycare center or preschool. You could also start your own daycare center or childminder. You could also work at an after-school care center (BSO) or as a nanny. Further education is also an option. You'll then pursue a higher professional education program, such as Pedagogy, Social Studies, Childcare Management, Teacher Training College (PABO), Applied Psychology, or Speech Therapy.
What does your education look like?
The course consists of half practical training (including internship) and half theory.
You'll start in the first year in a combined group of Childcare Worker and Specialized Childcare Worker students. At the end of the first year, you'll choose one of two tracks together with your career counselor to earn your diploma.

This program is a practical training program. From day one, you'll intern at one of Korein's locations in Eindhoven. You'll also attend classes there. Your Summa instructors will travel to your internship location.
- You immediately come into contact with children.
- You gain a lot of practical experience.
- The distance between education and practice is very small.
- Lessons learned are immediately put into practice.
- Teachers can help you with your own learning questions.
This is what you can expect:
- 28 hours per week internship.
- Being trained in practice.
- Intensive on-site guidance.
- Guaranteed internship.
- Learn at your own pace.
- Carrying out assignments at your internship location.
- Collaborating in a vertical classroom with levels 3 and 4.
- General lessons, such as arithmetic, Dutch, and citizenship, are taken at Summa's educational location, Willem de Rijkelaan 3 in Eindhoven.

What prior education do you need?
For the vocational training (level 3) and middle management training (level 4) you must meet one of the following conditions:
- You have a diploma in pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) with a pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) track, a theoretical pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) track, or a mixed pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) track.
- You have an (older) diploma from lbo, vbo, mavo or mavo-vbo.
- You have a basic vocational training diploma (level 2) or a diploma from another vocational training course (level 3).
- You have proof that you successfully completed the first three years of pre-university or senior general secondary education (havo) or pre-university education (vwo). Or you have another diploma or certificate recognized by the government.
Additionally
If you have an SPW3, SPW4 or PW3 diploma and are 18 or older, you can complete the course in 2 years.
You will be invited for a personal interview or introductory meeting where you will get to know the school and we will see if this course is a good fit for you.
Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) required
To be eligible for an internship, you need a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG). Almost all training companies require this. We recommend that you ensure you can obtain a VOG before starting your program. This will prevent you from being unable to complete an internship and possibly having to discontinue your program.
