Conventional spinning (basic)

If you work in metal and want to learn more about conventional turning, this course is perfect for you.

The metalworking industry is constantly evolving and innovating. A key development is that more and more companies are transitioning to efficient working methods, particularly regarding materials, machinery, and time management.

Efficiently using time, materials, and machinery requires specific knowledge and skills. This practical course will teach you the fundamentals of the craft. It takes place in a small group, so you'll receive plenty of attention from the instructor and have plenty of opportunity to ask questions.

After 5 days of training, you will know the tricks of the trade and be able to deliver professional work independently.

Day 1

• Working safely (in the workshop and on the machine)
• Machine operation (working with digital readout)
• Determining, working with and setting speeds
• Use hard three-jaw
• Working with the chisel holder and determining center height
• Manually flatten and turn workpieces
• Working with a drill head and center drill
• Measuring with a sliding caliper

Day 2

• Concepts of approach/depth of cut and determining approach yourself
• Determine speed with table and calculate it yourself
• Measuring with surface roughness meter
• Working with automatic longitudinal and cross feed
• Flat workpieces with curved rough chisel and automatic feed
• Stepped external turning of workpieces with longitudinal turning tool

Day 3

• Types of chisels
• Insert straight external grooves
• Drilling large holes

Day 4

• Internal longitudinal and stepped rotation
• Cutting off products, working with a cutting chisel
• Measuring with a depth gauge / depth caliper

Day 5

• Time out and space for questions and assignments from your practice
