Invest in the future of your staff with the SLIM training subsidy

About the SLIM training subsidy

Do you want to (re)start working in a sector that desperately needs staff? The SLIM training subsidy allows you to pursue training that will help you advance. The subsidy is intended for sectors such as technology, childcare, healthcare and welfare, education, and ICT. These sectors are vital to our society but are facing staff shortages. From 2025 to 2027, €73,8 million is available to address this.

The subsidy is available to both employees who are already working and those who want to start working. It allows you to pursue training that fits within a so-called development path. This path identifies the training you need to achieve a specific position or specialization.

The cost of the program is covered by the subsidy. This applies to tuition, course fees, college fees, and exam fees. Books you need for the program are also covered, provided they are listed on the invoice. If your language proficiency isn't yet sufficient to complete the program or the work, you can also take language lessons with a subsidy.

You can receive subsidies for the following types of training:

  • Official vocational training programs in the vocational training pathway (BBL) or third-level learning pathway. Individual components of these programs are also available, provided you receive a certificate or statement for them.
  • Unofficial training courses with an industry quality mark and an NLQF level.
