Game Breakers lets young people discover tech through the lens of gaming
Spelbrekers is a video-first platform that speaks to young people between the ages of 12 and 18 in their own language. It is a long-term, content-driven campaign in which we use TikTok, Instagram en YouTube regularly publish new videos. Influencers, such as streamers, participate in this StreamwithLien, and students take viewers on an adventure to companies such as VDL and NTS.
We also make special explainer videos in which we explain how technology works in Games work. By making that transition, we lower the barrier to entry and demonstrate that the technology they enjoy forms the foundation for the future.
The platform leverages a crucial insight: young people who play games are constantly engaged in challenge-based learning. Solving complex problems, experimenting with new strategies, and further developing skills: precisely the core competencies that are also central to technical professions. Spelbrekers focuses on authentic stories from real people in the tech industry, with a conscious focus on diversity. This creates a new way to introduce young people to technology: by tapping into their passion for gaming and connecting it with the endless possibilities of the tech world. The platform is creating a new generation that sees tech as a world of adventure, challenge, and creativity.
Brainport collaboration for new generation of tech talent
This initiative is a collaboration between Summa, Brainport Development, Fontys, Ter AA, TU/e and the business community. Together, we are strengthening the region and training the next generation for the tech industry as part of the Talent for Semiconductors project. "Spielbrekers" (Spellbreakers) was developed to contribute to the objectives of training and developing sufficient talent for the Dutch semiconductor industry.
