Going to school doesn't feel like going to school at all
Rik Haaksman
Former student of Metal Factory
The best thing about this program is that everyone has the same goal: to become a professional musician and make great music. Going to school doesn't feel like going to school at all; it feels more like working together towards a great goal. The distance between the teachers and students is very close. The Dynamo location is fantastic.
We take basic subjects like math, English, and Dutch. We also learn music theory. You'll learn technical skills, but you'll also interview people, for example, to get a real-world picture of what life is like as a musician.
Every 10 weeks, you'll be in a new band put together by the school. This means your repertoire will always be different. Sometimes it's classic metal, other times it's more "groovy" or technical. Every two weeks, you'll learn a song on an instrument. For the exam, the teacher puts together a band with different musicians from the class. Then, suddenly, you have to play the songs you've learned with brand-new band members, and you'll be assessed on that. It's great, because everyone has a different playing style.
