As a facilities employee, you manage the "household of a company." You ensure that everyone in the company has the facilities they need to perform their duties. You essentially manage the company's assets; you handle purchasing, manage keys and the room reservation system, coordinate cleaning, and ensure security.
In the first year, we completed a project in which we designed a company canteen in ten weeks. First, we determined the vision, mission, goal, and target audience. Then came the layout. We were allowed to decide where the reception desk, restrooms, restaurant, kitchen, and so on would be placed. Then we developed this floor plan. We created a mood board for the canteen's atmosphere. The theory lessons were closely related to the project. I really enjoyed it because it was so diverse and because this aspect of the profession appeals to me.
