Just let me stay in the workshop

Welder at work wearing a welding helmet.

Melvin van Grieken

Former student Construction worker

I worked at Igma Fijnmechanica in Bladel. There, I was involved in welding, sanding, bending, and occasionally turning and milling. During my training, I also learned how to adjust a bending machine. If you want to work in this profession, you need to be good with your hands and be able to work accurately. You have to be able to read information from drawings. You learn this during the training.

After my internship, I was able to continue working and studying at the company. I enjoy welding the most; I want to obtain several certificates in that area. I really don't need to sit behind a computer; I'd rather stay in the workshop. I still have plenty to learn.
