German guitarist Konstantin Richter is looking forward to the Crafted Festival

July 04, 2025

As far as he knows, it's the only metal academy in the world, so choosing the Metal Factory in Eindhoven was a logical choice for 24-year-old Konstantin Richter from Germany. Summa College's artist program will celebrate its tenth anniversary in July. However, the highlight for Konstantin will take place on June 22nd: just like last year, he will perform at the Crafted Festival. The event where creative craftsmanship is celebrated.

When creative worlds meet

Konstantin comes from Cottbus, near the Polish border, about 120 kilometers from Berlin. The city has a population of around XNUMX. "There's nothing wrong with that region, but what I find in Eindhoven is unique," he says enthusiastically. He's been living in the Netherlands for two years and may never leave. "It's the place to be for me. There are music schools all over the world, but you won't find a specific metal program anywhere else. I'm making a lot of friends here with whom I play music. And I'm already learning a decent amount of Dutch." Konstantin is a guitarist through and through, but at his vocational school (MBO), he doesn't just play the strings. "We learn so much more, which is also special. The Metal Factory teaches us to make music our profession. Entrepreneurship, the business and technical aspects of the trade."

Indie rock during the colorful Crafted

On June 22nd, the sixth edition of the Crafted Festival takes place, a tribute to talented artists, bakers, chefs, hairdressers, stylists, interior designers, fashion designers, and engineers. In addition to the festival, there's a conference with renowned speakers, and Konstantin will also be speaking. "I'll be opening it with fellow student Cheyenne, a German singer. We're working on our music, the final touches. Think indie rock, music that makes you happy. I'll also talk about my experiences and our joint performance at Roadburn, a festival in Tilburg. Later that day, we'll also perform at the fashion show. Actually, that's the most important moment for me. I think it's special that different worlds collide at Crafted in a very special setting. Fashion and music come together at that moment. It's a concept that really excites me. Crafted is a colorful mess, and I mean that in a very positive way. I'm looking forward to it."

Adrenaline

When is he satisfied afterward? “That moment is right after our performance at the fashion show, not in the evening at home when I reflect on the day in silence. It's about that moment right after the show, when the last notes fade away. The adrenaline we feel then, the admiration of the audience, the models, my fellow artists, the feeling. Everything is vibrant and alive. That's when I'm happiest. That's Crafted for me.”
