At a small construction company you can really be all-round
Lex van Mierlo
Former student All-round maintenance and renovation employee
The first two years of this program are spent learning the seven trades: carpentry, plastering, installation technology, electrical engineering, tiling, bricklaying, and painting. You'll intern at a construction company, where you can immediately apply most of these disciplines. You'll visit people in their homes to fix things up. That's a good fit, as you need to enjoy interacting with people.
In your third year, you'll also focus on entrepreneurship. That's a great prospect for the future: starting your own business. But it's better to gain your initial experience working with a boss. You can also use your skills in other areas. For example, you'll work with a few fellow students on the "klusbus" (job bus). This is an initiative of the school and the students where we do odd jobs for volunteer organizations.
