About 25 educational staff, teaching assistants, and support staff from Mondomijn in Helmond completed the Didactic Support for Primary Education program. They highly recommend the program. "You become more versatile."

Mondomijn is a unique, comprehensive childcare center. Here, children aged 0 to 12—with the ambition to extend this to 18—receive the education of the future. No standard lessons, but a customized program tailored to each child's talents and developmental areas, their learning style, and pace.

Staff shortage

But however unusual, Mondomijn is also facing staff shortages. The extra funding the government made available due to the coronavirus pandemic was therefore welcome. It was put to good use, including training pedagogical staff. "We don't have a teaching background, so I was happy that we could partial training Didactic support primary education "We were allowed to follow," says staff member Susanne Friesen. "Just today, I covered for a sick teacher. Thanks to the program, I'm more versatile. It helps address the staff shortage."

Responding to differences

It's always good to have an additional certificate. Everyone learns in their own way. If you know a child's learning preferences, you can better tailor the lesson to them. Susanne learned a lot from the training. "Working from goals, for example. Which type of child suits which activity, and which learning strategy suits which activity? I now understand why a teacher chooses a particular activity for a child or group of children."

Committed

The training is designed to keep you sharp and help you break out of your routine. The assignments are practical and achievable for all participants. The fact that all Mondomijn participants earned their certificates demonstrates the program's manageability. Susanne also praises the Summa instructor. "She was pleasant to work with and has a lot of experience," says Susanne. "I also appreciated that she was open to our way of working. She responded to that."

In-company

Mondomijn employees highly recommend the training program. Susanne: “Summa delivered the program at our childcare center; we were just colleagues. The advantage is that you quickly gain more in-depth knowledge and can easily connect with each other between training days. With a mixed group from different schools or childcare centers, you actually get a broader perspective. There are advantages to both. I would especially recommend: take the program. Invest in it as a school and as a school staff member. Many of them want to work more hours, and this certificate will make them versatile. So go for it!”
