Summa in third place at SustainaBul MBO 2025

On Thursday, December 4, 2025, Summa finished third in the Frontrunners category of the SustainaBul MBO 2025, the highest category in this national sustainability ranking. This officially places us among the most sustainable vocational education institutions in the Netherlands. After winning the Kickstarter competition in 2023 and finishing second last year in the Accelerators competition, we now stood once again – and on the top! – of the podium.

The jury emphasized that sustainability is firmly anchored in our strategy: "Their progress in education is striking. They have a clear step-by-step plan to embed sustainability in all programs by 2030," according to the jury report.

In education, we practice what we preach, demonstrating what we also expect from students and partners. Students and colleagues collaborate on sustainability issues during the SDG 3-day event and in the Pilot Project (our Green Office).

Through practorates such as 'Sustainability and Energy Transition'And'Sustainable and Smart Mobility'we make sustainability concrete in lessons, projects and collaborations.

In addition, the "Samen Doen We Goed" community has been launched. In this community, colleagues help each other further improve the sustainability of training programs and quickly disseminate best practices throughout the organization.

Sustainability is also reflected in our business operations. We are gradually making our catering and buildings more sustainable, developing a food garden together with Yuverta and working on initiatives like the Paint Garden at Summa Fashion. In our purchasing policy, we critically examine agreements with suppliers. The jury specifically appreciated that we don't shy away from robust discussions when suppliers fail to meet their sustainability commitments.

The fact that our efforts are recognized in the SustainaBul MBO 2025 is a wonderful confirmation of the course we are taking as a sustainable vocational institution. We congratulate the winner. Noorderpoort and number two Albeda with their performance in the Koplopers category.
