Introducing the Summa Skills Heroes Class of 2024
Have you already marked March 21st and 22nd, 2024, in your calendar? That's when it's happening again: Skills Heroes, the vocational competitions for vocational education (MBO). Preparations are already in full swing, and the first exciting stories have already been shared. How many Summa Heroes will be participating this year? We'd love to introduce them to you.
The road to Skills the Finals
During the Skills Heroes competitions, participants from various vocational programs compete to become the best in the Netherlands in their respective fields. Becoming the best isn't easy. Participants compete for the national title during preliminary rounds at their own school, qualifying competitions throughout the country, and finally, the final.
This year, a record number of 36 (!!) students are participating, and Summa College is well represented. We're proud of that. Our students will be participating in the qualifying competitions until early February. If our Heroes make it through, they'll compete in the national finals, also known as Skills The Finals, on Thursday, March 21st and Friday, March 22nd, 2024, at the Brabanthallen in 's-Hertogenbosch.
This year, Skills The Finals is extra special. For the first time, Summa College has taken an active role in organizing this large-scale event. Trust us, you won't want to miss it.
It's about the journey, not the price
Sure, participating in Skills The Finals is fun, and reaching the podium is perhaps even more exciting, but at Summa College, it's all about the journey. That's why, in the lead-up to the finals, participating students participate in various workshops, enjoy a communal lunch, and stay overnight near the Brabanthallen starting the day before. These are wonderful moments where the students get to know each other better, and especially themselves.

Are you talented and want to excel in your field? It doesn't matter your level or year, almost* anyone can participate in Skills Heroes. Are you eager to learn, curious, and do you have the courage to compete in this unique professional competition? Then you'll be on our wall of fame next year.
* Is your program not participating in Skills Heroes yet? That's a shame! Because it's a fantastic program and a wonderful experience where you, as a student, learn a lot about yourself and the field. But don't worry, you'll have another chance to participate next year.
