Follow the vocational training course for pharmacy assistant

To perform this profession effectively, you need extensive knowledge of medication. You'll learn to check whether a medication is compatible with other medications the patient is taking and to keep accurate records. Communication is a key priority. What are you becoming?

You'll become a pharmacy assistant. With a level 4 vocational diploma, you'll work in a pharmacy. Pharmacy assistants are in high demand, so you're sure to find a good job quickly. You can also pursue a higher professional education (HBO) program, such as pharmacy or pharmaceutical consultant training.

What does your education look like?

You'll spend most of your first year at school. You'll receive theoretical and practical instruction, and practice in simulations. Starting in week 31 of the academic year, you'll have a two-day internship per week. You'll also have two days of internship per week in your second and third years.

What prior education do you need?

For the vocational training (level 3) and middle management training (level 4) you must meet one of the following conditions:

  • You have a diploma in pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) with a pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) track, a theoretical pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) track, or a mixed pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) track.
  • You have an (older) diploma from lbo, vbo, mavo or mavo-vbo.
  • You have a basic vocational training diploma (level 2) or a diploma from another vocational training course (level 3).
  • You have proof that you successfully completed the first three years of pre-university or senior general secondary education (havo) or pre-university education (vwo). Or you have another diploma or certificate recognized by the government.

You will be invited for a personal interview or introductory meeting where you will get to know the school and we will see if this course is a good fit for you.

Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) required

To be eligible for an internship, you need a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG). Almost all training companies require this. We recommend that you ensure you can obtain a VOG before starting your program. This will prevent you from being unable to complete an internship and possibly having to discontinue your program.
