Basic development-oriented work in early childhood education (K1301)

Do you work as a childcare professional? And do you want to learn how to better support young children with (potential) developmental delays? Then this elective is for you.

This program is designed for educational professionals who already have a basic understanding of early childhood development. You'll learn how to collaborate in a group and create a stimulating play environment. This program is a valuable addition if you'd like to work at a Preschool Education (VE) facility.

You'll learn how to guide young children purposefully in their development. You'll also discover how to create a learning environment in which they can thrive.

This course was previously called VVE (Pre- and Early School Education).

In this program, you'll delve into developmentally focused work with young children, focusing primarily on children who need extra support. You'll learn how preschool education (VVE) originated and who its target group is. You'll discover how to stimulate their development with continuous learning pathways.

You'll learn about various early childhood education methods and how to apply them in your work. You'll learn to identify and seize opportunities, enabling you to truly help children.

Topics that are covered

• Working with early childhood education programs;
• Stimulating the development of young children, for example in the areas of language, arithmetic, motor skills and social-emotional development;
• Monitor the development of toddlers and tailor the pre-school education offered accordingly;
• Involving parents in their child's development;
• Ensuring a good transition from preschool to early school.

You complete this elective with a practical exam and a portfolio.
