Instructor MBO (defense)

Teaching with impact

As an instructor in the Ministry of Defence, you'll often work independently with groups or individual students. You'll be part of a training team and coordinate your work with your colleagues.

After completing this program, you can work as an instructor in the Ministry of Defence or in secondary vocational education (MBO). The program can also be a valuable stepping stone to obtaining a teaching qualification.

You will learn this

During the program, you'll work on your quality and expertise as an instructor. You'll learn to critically evaluate your own actions and develop your pedagogical and teaching skills.

The exact structure of your training depends on when you obtained your ECOD Trainer certification (BC 03340) and when you were placed as an instructor. There are two possible tracks: track 1.0 and track 1.5. We explain the differences below.

Traject 1.0

When do I enter this process?

  • You obtained your ECOD Trainer certificate (BC 03340) between 2013 and February 2019, and
  • you were placed as an instructor before 2021

What exemptions do I have?

  • Core task 1, Core task 2 and the elective part

Which subjects will I take?

  • Mathematics, English, Dutch and Career and Citizenship

Which exams do I have to take?

  • Math Level 4, English Reading/Listening, English Speaking/Conversation, English Writing, Dutch Reading/Listening, Dutch Speaking/Conversation, Dutch Writing

Traject 1.5

When do I enter this process?

  • You obtained your ECOD Trainer certificate (BC 03340) in or after February 2019

What exemptions do I have?

  • Core task 1
  • Elective subject

Which subjects will I take?

  • Mathematics, English, Dutch, Career and Citizenship and BK1-BK2: working on your own expertise

Which exams do I have to take?

  • Math Level 4, Reading/Listening in English, Speaking/Conversing in English, Writing in English, Reading/Listening in Dutch, Speaking/Conversing in Dutch, Writing in Dutch, Working on Quality and Expertise (Core Task 2)

The costs for this tailor-made programme depend on the programme you follow, programme 1.0 or programme 1.5.

  • Costs for course 1.0: €1.195
  • Costs for course 1.5: €1.695

Duration

The duration and workload of the training vary by instructor. The learning path is tailored to the instructor's educational needs and level of learning. This makes it possible to complete the training within six months.

The start date will be determined in consultation. It is possible to start at any time during the school year.

Preliminary training

To be admitted to this program:

  • Do you have a Trainer diploma from the Expertise Centre for Defence Training (ECOD) or equivalent?
  • do you have a Practical Instructor certificate;
  • Are you employed as an instructor within the Ministry of Defence?

The exact details of your training depend on when you obtain your ECOD and when you are appointed as an instructor. You can read more about this under the heading "This is what your training looks like."

Do you have a level 3 or 4 vocational diploma outside of the defense sector and are you working as an instructor? Then you can the regular training Follow.

Location and times

Online classes are held on Tuesdays from 10.30:16.00 AM to XNUMX:XNUMX PM. Exams are held both online and on-site at Summa College.

Certificate of Education

You will complete the program with the MBO level 4 Instructor diploma. This diploma qualifies you to work in vocational education (MBO), practical education (PBO), and pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO).
