Personal social care assistant (bol)

An eye for appropriate care

As a personal support worker, you work with people with multiple challenges. This includes people with disabilities, people with mental health issues, and people requiring social support (addicts and the homeless).

This new program trains you to become a Personal Support Worker in Social Care. You will work in healthcare institutions that provide support and care in the areas of housing, education, work, and/or leisure time to people with vulnerabilities. You will provide temporary or permanent support with daily activities and in helping them function in society. You will ensure that these people can live as independently as possible.

In addition, you will develop knowledge and skills that will enable you, together with colleagues, family members and other stakeholders, to provide demand-driven support to increase the client's self-management.

You'll learn how to professionally interact and collaborate with vulnerable groups, their families, and colleagues. You'll constantly consider the client's needs and requirements, ensuring they maintain control over their own lives. You'll be flexible and work irregular hours, a skill you'll begin developing during your training.
