Oral care with attention

As a dental assistant, you'll speak to patients and schedule appointments. You'll also assist the dentist, preparing treatments and ensuring the correct supplies are ready.

During the treatment, you'll use the right instrument at the right time. You'll perform some tasks yourself, such as taking x-rays and removing tartar. After the treatment, you'll clean everything, tidy up, and update the patient file.

You will learn this

The dental assistant profession is multifaceted. And so is the training. You'll learn the technical aspects of the profession, the instruments, and the procedures. You'll also receive instruction in good organization, collaboration, and communication, both with colleagues and patients. You must be able to put an anxious patient at ease.

Costs

The statutory tuition fee for the 2025-2026 school year is €735. Books and materials cost approximately €350. You will also need a laptop.

Summa training courses and teaching materials provided by Summa are exempt from VAT. Read more about training costs.

Duration

2 to 3 years. You'll attend school one day a week. The program starts in August 1.

Preliminary training

You have completed a vmbo-t, mbo3 or mbo4 education.

It is important that you have had subjects from the Healthcare & Welfare sector in your package.

Work
You can only take this course if you work 16-24 hours per week at an accredited training company. If your employer isn't accredited, or if you're unsure whether it is, please contact us. We're happy to help.

During a personal interview or introductory meeting, we'll determine if this program is a good fit for you. To participate in this program, you must work at an accredited training company. If you don't work for such a company, we can help you find a suitable work placement.
