Electrical Systems Technician (bbl)

As an electrical systems technician, you might work at a manufacturing company, food processing company, engineering firm, staffing agency, project developer, or mechanical engineering company. You can also progress to a technical higher professional education program or teacher training program to become a technical teacher.

You'll attend theory classes at school one day a week. You'll also work for a training company four days a week.

In the Education and Examination Regulations (OER) of a study program, you can read what you will be doing in which period, how much time is spent on this, and an overview of the exams that will be administered. Find the OER for your study program here.

Search by your Crebo number (see the box on the right of this page) to view the OER for the current academic year. This will give you a general idea of what's expected of you when you start the program. The OER for the upcoming academic year will be available in July.

The statutory tuition fee for the 2026-2027 school year is 762 euros.

Laptop

For many study programs, students cannot do without a laptop. Check the overview to see if this applies to your program and download the correct specifications.

During your studies, you choose one or more electives to specialize or to broaden your education. Examples include entrepreneurship, leadership, programming, or a language. Throughout your studies, you will receive more information about the electives you can take. You complete each elective with an exam. Read more about electives.

There are two possible training pathways: a two-year and a three-year option. Each option has its own admission requirements.

To be admitted to the 3-year variant you need:

• diploma in pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) with a vocational, theoretical or mixed learning pathway;
• diploma lbo, vbo or mavo or;
• ··transfer certificate from 3 to 4 havo or vwo or;
• diploma MBO basic vocational training level 2 or vocational training level 3;
• other government-recognized diploma or certificate.

Legally, you are eligible with a level 2 diploma. We will always discuss your situation with you and advise you on whether you have a good chance of successfully completing the program.

If you start the 3-year program, you'll begin a foundation year alongside students from the Smart Industry Technician and Mechatronic Systems Technician programs. After successfully completing the first year, you can choose which program you ultimately want to complete: Smart Industry Technician, Mechatronic Systems Technician, or Electrical Systems Technician.

To be admitted to the 2-year variant you need:

• diploma of an electrical engineering education at MBO level 3.

If you meet these entry requirements, you already have extensive knowledge of the subject. You will therefore be exempt from the first year. You will start in the second year of the program and can complete it in two years.

During a personal interview or introductory meeting, we'll determine if this program is a good fit for you. To participate in this program, you must work at an accredited training company. If you don't work for such a company, we'll help you find a suitable work placement. You'll be responsible for finding one yourself.
