Care and nursing technical actions (K0118)

Invest in yourself

Do you work as a support worker in a healthcare institution and want to become proficient in nursing techniques? Then this course is for you.

You'll learn how to care for wounds, administer medication, inject, and much more. You'll also learn the requirements for healthcare providers performing high-risk procedures. After completing this course, you'll be qualified to perform care and nursing procedures. This is beneficial for your development and job prospects. And your employer will be pleased.

Want to know more?

For more information, please contact the Healthcare & Welfare sector Contact Point via care-welfare@summaenbedrijf.nl.

You will learn this

  • Recognizing the health status on a somatic and psychosocial level;
  • providing specific care such as dressing wounds and administering medication;
  • performing nursing technical procedures;
  • evaluating and recording the care provided.

You'll complete this program with an exam. You may take this exam if you've completed all the lessons, passed the practical assignment, and mastered the required skills.

What is the difference between the K0118 and the K0119?

K0118 forms the foundation of care and nursing techniques, while K0119 makes you competent and independent in more complex care situations. These are the specific differences:

  • In K0118 (this course) you will learn the basics of care and nursing techniques, such as injecting, taking blood sugar levels, and catheter care for women.
  • In K0119 (Nursing and nursing technical actions) Take it a step further: you'll develop advanced skills, learn clinical reasoning, and operate independently in more complex care situations. This includes wound care, male catheterization, tube feeding, oxygen and tracheostomy care, blood collection, infusion administration, and working with complex medications. It's a plus if you can also practice these procedures in your own professional practice.
