When is my first day of class or introduction?

Where can I find my schedule?

You can view your schedule via the Mijn Summa website or the Eduarte Student app ( Play Store or Apple Store ). Your schedule will be available no later than the weekend before the start of classes after the summer holidays.

Log in to My Summa

You can log in to My Summa using the details you received by email. Are you taking a course at Summa for the first time? Then first change the password you received. You can do this via the password tool . After that, your personal Summa account will be active. If you have already set a personal password, you can log in directly with it.

How do I find a training company for my work-based learning (BBL) training?

You can search for a BBL workplace by study program and region via the website stagemarkt.nl .

For training courses in healthcare, we also refer to the website www.brabantzorg.net.
For training courses in construction you can look at Construction people in the Eindhoven region and for a bbl workplace in technology on Brainport Industries College.
Students of Living & Design can take a look at BosMti training courses in Nuenen.
If you are looking for a work placement in electrical and installation technology, you can look at IW Netherlands.

Of course, you can also look for a suitable company in your own area. However, it is important to check whether it is a recognized training company. Our BPV contact persons may be able to give you tips on possible workplaces.

When will I receive my Summa account?

You'll receive your Summa account login details immediately after receiving your registration confirmation. This is usually a few weeks after you register, but it can take a little longer.

With your Summa account you can use WiFi at school and log in to Summa applications such as Canvas, My Summa and your email.

How can I order my books and digital teaching materials (learning resources)?

The list of teaching materials with books and the like that you need for your course will be available from July.

You can find an overview of educational supplies at MBOwebshop.nl. You'll see the costs there. If you prefer to buy your supplies elsewhere, that's fine too.

On MBOwebshop.nl, you will find the educational supplies you need to purchase. Log in there with your school account (the Summa email address). Using a different email address will cause problems with purchased licenses. After logging in, select as follows:

  • Location/sector: all locations
  • Department/team: your school name without Summa
  • School year: 1, 2, 3 or 4
  • Learning path: full-time or part-time
  • Course name: the name of the course you will be taking in the coming school year.

If you have forgotten your password for your Summa account or have not yet activated your Summa account, go to wachtwoord.summacollege.nl . On start.summacollege.nl you will find more information about your Summa account and other ICT resources.

Activate digital teaching materials

To activate your digital teaching materials, you will receive an activation link in your Summa mailbox at the beginning of the school year.

Is your learning materials list not yet online? Then leave your email address after selecting your program on mbowebshop.nl. You'll receive a notification as soon as the list is available. Almost all lists will be available from the beginning of July.

What specifications should my laptop meet?

For many study programs, you need a laptop. You can read more about this on the Purchasing a laptop page . There you will also find the specifications that the laptop for your study program must meet.

You can find suitable laptops via the Paradigit Campus Shop and Studywise under your school's name. Both shops offer additional services, such as the option to rent a laptop and take out insurance.

What are the extra costs for books and materials?

You often pay extra costs for books, digital licenses, software, a laptop, or activities. The costs vary per study program. Therefore, always check the study program page. For some study programs, additional educational supplies are required, such as clothing and materials. If your school is not listed below, then no specific clothing or materials are required for your study program.

How can I order books for VAVO?

During your intake interview at the VAVO, we will discuss which books you need and how you can order them.

Free teaching materials (school books) basic skills for minor students

The Minister of Education, Culture and Science and the House of Representatives want to reduce school costs for minor vocational students in this way.

If you order learning materials for language, arithmetic, and citizenship via mbowebshop.nl, you will automatically receive a €80 discount on the total amount. This applies to the 2026-2027 academic year for all full-time (bol) and part-time (bbl) students born on or after September 1, 2008.

How much does a vocational education cost?

Tuition and course fees are set annually by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. Read more on the Central Government website . You can also view our page about the costs of an MBO education .

In our school costs guidelines (pdf), you can read which costs are paid by the school and which you must pay yourself. If you or your parent(s)/guardian(s) are unable to pay, assistance may be available from the Mbo Studentenfonds.

Are there any reimbursements for (study) costs?

If you or your family are unable to pay the tuition fees for your full-time vocational training, you may be able to apply to the MBO Student Fund . This fund may be able to cover the costs in full or in part.

If you are 18 or older and are following a full-time vocational education program (BOL) in secondary vocational education, you can apply for student finance from DUO . Many secondary vocational students are also entitled to a supplementary grant.

How do I pay for my education?

Anyone who is 1 years or older on August 18st of the year in which the program begins and is enrolled in a full-time vocational (BOL) program or VAVO (vavo) program must pay tuition for the 2026-2027 academic year. The DUO payment request will be sent in mid-September 2026.

Payment is made through My DUO. You can pay the entire amount at once, or in nine installments.

If you are 1 years or older on August 18st and are enrolled in a work-based learning program, you must pay the course fee to Summa. You will receive an invoice for this via email.

Will I get a student travel pass?

MBO students following a full-time (BOL) program are entitled to reimbursement of travel expenses for public transport.
With a student travel pass, you travel for free or at a discount. You can read more about this on the DUO website.

Even if you are not yet 18
The student travel product is available to all bol students, even if you are not yet 18 years old.
You must apply for it yourself via My DUO.

Free or refund?
If you are doing level 3 or 4, your travel product is free if you obtain your diploma within 10 years. Otherwise, you have to repay it. For MBO 1 or 2, the travel product is always free. For levels 3 and 4, you receive the travel product for a maximum of 7 years. For MBO 1 and 2, you receive it without limit. The DUO website will tell you all about it. You can also apply for your travel product there.

Do you receive student finance in secondary vocational education?

If you are 18 or older and following a full-time vocational education program (BOL) in secondary vocational education, you can apply for student finance from DUO. The amount of your student finance depends on many different factors. You will find out when you apply for student finance . Also read more information for students who are almost 18.

Many MBO students are also entitled to a supplementary grant . If you or your parent(s)/guardian(s) are unable to pay, assistance may be available from the MBO Student Fund.

Can I switch between a weekly and weekend pass for my public transport travel product?

You can switch from a weekly to a weekend pass, or vice versa, via My DUO. The switch must be requested before May 1st.

Every year in July, Summa publishes a general information guide for the upcoming academic year. This guide contains all the information about studying at Summa. We believe it's important that you, as a student, receive accurate information about the options and general rules within our organization. We hope this general information guide will give you a good overview.

In addition to this General Information Guide, some schools have their own short study guide containing practical information on matters such as class times, addresses, and accessibility. Furthermore, there is an Education and Examination Regulations (OER) that provides more information about the content of the study program.
