Central Student Council
The Central Student Council (CSR) represents the interests of all Summa students. The Student Council consists of an odd number of members elected by and from the student body. As a member of the council, you can participate in discussions, brainstorm, and make decisions about education and ensure a successful student experience at Summa.
The student council regularly consults with the management and teachers on various matters of importance to students, such as school safety, facilities, and the atmosphere. They also have the right to approve and advise on certain school decisions, such as the student charter and the main budget guidelines.
Besides consulting and making decisions, the student council also actively gathers feedback and input from students. Together with the school, they organize various activities and events to increase student engagement. In this way, they aim to ensure that everyone's time at Summa is an enjoyable and successful experience.
One of those events was the Summa Summer Party in 2023.
Want to become a member of the student council?
Student council elections are held annually in December and January. Each program holds these elections when there is a vacancy. There are a maximum of 15 seats on the council, and you can be a member for a maximum of two years. Your academic advisor can tell you more about this. You can also register as a candidate with your advisor.
Commitment and earnings
Being a member of the student council is interesting and educational. You'll also receive financial compensation for meetings with the board and council. Furthermore, the work budget allows you to take a course or training program.
This does mean that you'll be expected to make a significant commitment. Besides attending student council meetings and consulting with the board, you'll also be active in student council working groups. On average, you'll spend approximately 16 hours per month on the student council.
Activities
The student council meets for half a day every two weeks. It consults with the Executive Board at least twice a year. In addition, there are also meetings on more specific topics. Regular consultations also take place between the student council and the works council. The student council has statutory advisory and approval powers and is therefore a council, comparable to the works council for staff. Read the Student Council Regulations here.
