Student guidance
Sometimes you need some extra attention or support. The Student Guidance Department is there for all students who need help with their studies or need (re)orientation. This department offers:
- Care coordination: referral to internal and external experts in the field of guidance and care.
- Reorientation programs; individually, with and without the use of tests.
- Supporting teaching teams with pedagogical and didactic issues.
If your mentor/study coach notices that you might need extra support, they will discuss it with you. You can also always approach your mentor with your concerns. They will refer you to the right person at the Student Support Department.

Are you a Summa student unsure about your study choice? Want to change programs or need help with further education? The Student Guidance Department can help you make the right choice. Discuss this with your study coach (mentor), who can refer you.
This is how the process works
As a student, you will then be paired with one of our student advisors. They will work with you through the various steps in choosing a study.
They know everything about the different courses and can help you determine which course suits you best.
We start with an introductory meeting.
Together, we'll determine your needs. Then we'll create a plan that's right for you.
What can happen then:
- Conversations
- Exercises
- Assignments for home or to get to know a course or profession better.
- Study choice tests (This site contains a small example test (link to study choice test)
- Personality tests
- Intelligence tests (does a certain level of education match your intelligence)
Together we discover who you are, what you find important, what you need, what you find interesting.
Usually you have between 1 and 5 conversations.
