Teachers help, listen and think along
Nicole Jansen was a swimming instructor, but an injury forced her to look for an office job. "I now answer questions from entrepreneurs at the tax hotline. It's great work. But I'm eager to develop my skills."
“I am the Legal, insurance & HR services specialist training I'm going to pursue a degree so I can continue to grow within the Tax and Customs Administration. For someone with a 32-hour job, a household with two children, and homework, it's quite demanding. I'm also not a quick learner, so I have to put in a lot of time."
She continues: "It's a three-year program that I'll complete in two years; if I fail any exams, I can retake them in the third year. That flexibility is nice. It's a shame that some assignments are written for 3- and 2-year-olds. The teacher has already said that he thinks it's a good idea to create special assignments for adults. Overall, I think it's a good program with teachers who listen well, think along with you, and help. It's also a broad program, which means I can go to many places. Ideally, I'd like to work within the Belastingdienst Teaching new colleagues the processes and systems. That teaching is part of it, after all."
