Medical Assistant (BBL)

You are the connecting link in the doctor's practice

You'd love to be part of the medical world. Assisting doctors, performing medical procedures, and advising patients. Then medical assistant is the career for you!

You'd love to be part of the medical world. Assisting doctors, performing medical procedures, and advising patients. Then medical assistant is the career for you!

You're the focal point of a practice: patients come to you. You assess the severity of the complaint, schedule an appointment, or provide sound advice. You assist the doctor with procedures, but also perform tasks yourself, such as measuring blood pressure, administering injections, removing stitches, and dressing wounds.

You'll learn this and much more at school. This profession requires good organization and planning, teamwork, and communication skills. You'll consult with colleagues and doctors, and talk to a wide variety of patients. This requires empathy. We focus heavily on these topics during the program. We also teach you how to accurately update patient records. As you can see, being a medical assistant is a demanding and responsible profession. And incredibly enjoyable!

The full medical assistant program officially takes three years. Depending on your previous education and/or aptitude, you can enter the second year of the program through a customized program and complete the program in two years. Would you like more information? Contact Lizanne and Esther via bbl-doktersassistent@summacollege.nl.
