First Mechatronics Technician

As a first-level mechatronics engineer, you'll primarily work in the mechanical engineering and equipment manufacturing industries. You'll maintain focus and be aware of any deviations in the technical process. You'll also assist in building complex machines.

You will learn this

During your program, you'll learn to work independently and confidently with technology. You'll receive theoretical knowledge and extensive practical training in the modern environment of the Brainport Industries Campus. There, you'll learn about control engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering, among other things.

You'll be working alongside others. Therefore, a collaborative attitude and excellent communication and social skills are essential. You'll also always be mindful of your own safety and that of your colleagues. The machines you deliver are always safe to use. As a first-team mechatronics engineer, you'll primarily work in the mechanical engineering and equipment manufacturing industries. You'll maintain focus and be aware of any deviations in the technical process. You can also assist in building complex machines.

Costs

The statutory tuition fee for the 2025-2026 school year is €735. You'll also need a laptop and pay for course materials.

Summa training courses and teaching materials provided by Summa are exempt from VAT. Read more about training costs.

Duration

2 to 3 years, you attend school one day a week. With a vocational diploma in mechatronics mechanic (level 1) or equivalent, you can complete the program in two years.

Preliminary training

To be able to follow this course, you need a

  • diploma vmbo framework vocational, theoretical or mixed learning pathway or;
  • transition certificate from 3 to 4 havo or vwo or;
  • MBO level 2 diploma

You can only take this training if you work for an accredited training company. If your employer isn't accredited, or if you're unsure whether it is, please contact us. We're happy to help.
