(Personal) social care supervisor for career changers – Disability care

Growth in social care

Do you want to work in disability care but don't have a diploma or work experience? Then this program is perfect for you.

From day one, you'll combine work and study. You'll have one day of classes per week and work at least 1 hours a week in a care facility. You'll support clients with their daily activities and help them gain more autonomy. You'll do this together with colleagues, family, and other stakeholders.

After 24 months you will be a social care worker (MBO level 3) or a personal social care worker (MBO level 4).

You will learn this

You will work in one of the participating healthcare institutions in the field of disability care that provide support and care in the areas of housing, education, work and/or leisure time to people with a (mental) disability.

  • You provide temporary or permanent support with daily activities and in functioning in society.
  • You ensure that these people can live as independently as possible.
  • You will develop your knowledge and skills to provide demand-driven support, together with colleagues, family members, and other stakeholders, to increase the client's self-management.

You'll learn how to professionally interact and collaborate with vulnerable groups within disability care, their families, and colleagues. You'll continually consider the client's needs and requirements, ensuring they maintain control over their own lives. You'll be flexible and work irregular hours.

You'll also take standard courses in subjects like Dutch, math, careers, and citizenship. You'll also choose several electives to learn more about topics related to your field. You'll receive more information about the electives available during your program. Each elective concludes with an exam.
