Hairdresser (ball)

As a hairdresser, you will work in a hair salon. This can also be a specialized business, such as a women's, men's, or trendy hair salon. You can also continue your education with the Level 3 All-round Hairdresser course.

The MBO hairdressing course level 2 in Eindhoven is a full-time course: you go to school 4 days a week and do an internship 1 day a week.

We always discuss with you what your learning trajectory will look like. The duration varies per student.

In the Education and Examination Regulations (OER) of a study program, you can read what you will be doing in which period, how much time is spent on this, and an overview of the exams that will be administered. Find the OER for your study program here.

Search by your Crebo number (see the box on the right of this page) to view the OER for the current academic year. This will give you a general idea of what's expected of you when you start the program. The OER for the upcoming academic year will be available in July.

The first year is a joint foundation year where you'll learn the basics of hairdressing, including cutting, washing, and blow-drying. During practical lessons, you'll work with students of all levels on the practical floor. After the foundation year, you'll start working with your level 2 diploma or continue your studies at level 3 or 4.

It's possible to complete the foundation year within one year, but you can also take longer (up to two years). Hairstylists (level 2 vocational and work-based learning) and salon managers (level 3 vocational) are required to complete the foundation year in one year, so they can move on to the Ladies' or Gentlemen's profile section in year two.

The statutory tuition fee for the 2026-2027 school year is 1.511 euros. Check DUO.nl for possible student finance.

You only pay this if you are 1 years or older at the start of the academic year (18 August).

Other educational supplies

In addition to books and digital course materials, other educational supplies for personal use are required or desired to follow this course. Read more about it here.

You will take subjects that train you for the profession and standard lessons such as Dutch and arithmetic. In addition, you choose one or more electives to specialize or to broaden your training. For example, English, Customer Contact and Sales, Make-up Artistry, or Nail Styling. During your training, you will receive more information about the electives you can take. This is a program with a limited number of places . It is important that you apply in time. This increases your chances of securing a place on the program, provided you meet the admission requirements. It is advisable to also apply for another program that suits you.

For basic vocational training (level 2) you must meet one of the following conditions:

• You have a diploma in pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) with a basic vocational track, a pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) with a framework vocational track, a pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO) with a theoretical track, or a mixed track.
• You have an (older) diploma from lbo, vbo, mavo or mavo-vbo.
• You have an entry-level training or basic vocational training diploma (level 2).
• You have proof that you have successfully completed the first three years of pre-university or senior general secondary education (havo) or pre-university education (vwo). This proof is recognized by the government.

You'll be invited to an introductory meeting where you'll get to know the school and we'll determine if this program is a good fit for you. We'll also determine together which path you'll take: the hairdressing program or the combined Nail & Hair Technician program.
