Students can get started right away
At VDL Klima, we manufacture ventilation systems and heat exchangers for electric motors, generators, and transformers, among other things. Originally, we primarily focused on the shipping industry, but because that industry eventually started to decline, we expanded our scope. These days, our products are also used in wind turbines, industrial applications, and agricultural and horticultural sectors. A significant portion of our work involves welding. It's no coincidence that 15 to 20 percent of our 85 employees are welders. They must have a minimum MBO level 3 diploma and are particularly proficient in MIG/MAG welding; this is our most common technique.
Welding is highly specialized work. And especially in the current job market, finding good welders isn't easy. That's why we train welders ourselves. We do this in collaboration with Summa. We've been offering welding training for adults for years. We're very happy with that collaboration. I think a big advantage is that we can make good agreements with Summa and have our own input. They adapt the training to our needs when necessary. It's also nice that the instructors keep us informed about how the student is doing. And if something goes wrong or there are problems, we sit down with the student to discuss what's going on and find a solution. That works well.
Contract after bbl training welder
Our employees who took a welding course for adults at Summa are also positive about the program. They have a good foundation level after completing the course, so they can start working right away. We teach them the real tricks of the trade, which also require months or years of practice. We also regularly offer a work-study program to students taking welding courses at Summa. This also helps us attract good welders. In recent years, at least six or seven students have stuck with us. We're happy with them. So why would we look for another provider of welding courses if we're satisfied with our current partner? You should cherish what's good. That's what we do.
