The training has visible results on the work floor.

De Zorggroep, the largest healthcare provider in North and Central Limburg, has been a loyal Summa customer for years. “Six years ago, we saw that our employees in the psychogeriatric care department needed support and training. Summa then Course Custom-developed. This aligned so well with practice that even now, years later, we still receive PG+ training."

Theo Mennen, through his coordinating role at De Zorggroep, is affiliated with the PG+ training program. "The colleagues who choose to work in the residential group do so very consciously and are highly motivated. But besides motivation, this work also requires knowledge, a collaborative approach, and a great deal of patience. This was emphasized and supported by theory during Summa's PG+ training sessions."

The impact of psychogeriatrics

Anthonet van Dijck, a psychiatric nurse, member of the on-the-job coaching support team, and member of the Mobile Support Team at De Zorggroep, adds enthusiastically to Theo. “After a successful initial training session, where we deepened and broadened our knowledge and skills, we gradually established new training sessions to accommodate the influx of new staff. The latest training session, led by Kim Derks, was theoretical and perfectly aligned with practice. Participants were given homework assignments with practical examples, which helped them absorb the theory and incorporate it into their support of residents. At my De Zorggroep location in Roermond, I see that staff are engaging with the theory from the training every day. It has visible results on the work floor.”

The power of learning together

At each meeting, we invited members of the Mobile Support Team as guest lecturers to speak about their expertise. This perfectly complemented the course content. Each guest lecturer from our team, with Kim's help, provided practical examples and explanations about methodical working and analytical thinking. I'm thrilled that our team is truly strengthening and empowering each other thanks to the training, resulting in psychogeriatric care professionals who are enthusiastic about their profession and eager to go to work. It's special to know that we now have a stronger team.

Valuable investment

Theo watched the participants' final presentations with great pride. "I saw the participants' motivation and desire to work and learn together. I saw how engaged their colleagues were and even how enthusiastically they shared the results. The realization that they have a right to be proud of their work was also evident in every presentation. Moreover, many valuable ideas were presented, and based on these, we will implement various improvements in care. I was very pleased with the feedback from all the participants. For me, the investment in the training is more than worth it. And most importantly, it all benefits the residents. That's what it's all about, after all."

Jack Gerrits, a PG+ employee at De Zorggroep, agrees with Theo and Anthonet. “The sessions were very varied, which was great. We learned theory, were tested on it, and were able to brainstorm with each other about specific themes we encountered in practice. Kim presented the theory incredibly well; I found her to be enthusiastic and energizing. She also had us bring in real-life case studies, which allowed us to immediately apply what we learned. In short: an incredibly valuable training course; I would recommend it to everyone.”
