Measures due to heat and public transport strike: education and exams continue
Heat and public transport strike: what does this mean for you?
It will get (even) warmer in the coming days. Additionally, public transport will operate on a limited schedule on Wednesday due to a strike.
Therefore, we are taking extra measures at Summa. The most important thing to know: exams, classes, and other educational activities will continue as usual.
Public transport strike on Wednesday
On Wednesday, no trains, buses, trams, or metros will run until 8:00 AM. After that, it may take some time before the schedule returns to normal.
Are you dependent on public transport and do you have a class, a test, an exam, or an appointment at one of our locations on this day in the morning? Then arrange alternative transport in time (e.g., car, bicycle, walking).
Do you have an exam? Read this carefully.
All exams will proceed as planned this week.
For many students, exams are important for their diploma or academic progress. Therefore, we are doing everything we can to ensure that exams proceed under good conditions.
Extra measures have been taken at examination locations. Buildings are being cooled, air conditioning is being used where possible, and extra drinking water is available.
If you are genuinely unable to take an exam due to exceptional circumstances, please contact your study program as soon as possible. In exceptional situations, a request may be submitted to the Examination Committee for an extra opportunity or an alternative solution. The Examination Committee assesses these applications individually. For diploma candidates, the continuation of exams takes priority in order to prevent study delays as much as possible.
Education continues as much as possible
Lessons, tests, and other educational activities will also continue according to your schedule.
What is necessary and responsible is assessed per location and study program. If anything changes, you will hear about it directly from your study coach.
Internship or education at another location
Are you doing an internship? Then you follow the guidelines of your internship organization.
Are you taking classes at an external Summa location? Then follow the guidelines of that location.
Take care of yourself
In warm weather, it is important to take extra good care of yourself.
- Drink enough water throughout the day.
- Find a cool place if necessary.
- Take it easy if you notice that the heat is costing you a lot of energy.
- Take care of yourself and others.
- Keep the windows and doors of the classrooms closed as much as possible during the hottest hours of the day.
Are you feeling unwell due to the heat? If so, report this to your study coach, facilities service provider, or another Summa staff member.
Where can you find the latest information?
We continuously monitor the consequences of the warm weather and the announced strikes, and assess daily whether additional measures are necessary.
Therefore, keep an eye on Canvas and Eduarte. If anything changes, we will let you know via those channels as soon as possible.
