Meet Stefanie, math teacher at Summa Sport
Did you know that math can also be active and fun? I'm passionate about sports and teaching. I bring that energy into the classroom every day; it doesn't always have to be serious or challenging. With a dose of humor and active learning methods, we make it fun and understandable together.
In my class, it's all about energy and a positive atmosphere. You need to feel comfortable and confident in your learning. Is something not going well? No problem, we'll tackle it together. And if things are going well, we'll make sure you can keep going. Everyone learns at their own pace, and that's how I structure my lessons.
Like many of my students, I don't enjoy sitting still and long theory blocks. That's why I always try to incorporate as many dynamic and interactive teaching methods as possible. For example, we start the school year with an escape room, where we have to solve various math problems together to progress. This way, you immediately get to know the material, the building, and your classmates.
Sports play a huge role in my life. I'm training for Ironman, have already run the New York Marathon, and have been skiing since I was five. I bring that passion for exercise into the classroom. In class, we regularly connect sports to lessons: for example, you learn how to calculate your average speed or how much energy you use during a workout. Math suddenly becomes a lot more logical when you see how you can apply it in your own life.
What's most important to me? That you feel comfortable in the classroom. I want to create a safe, motivating, and active environment where you feel comfortable making mistakes, can be yourself, and can learn at your own pace. We do it together. My goal isn't just to teach you about grades, but especially to give you more confidence in yourself and your abilities.
