We have learned a lot by making mistakes

I find classes at Summa Horeca very different from those at pre-vocational secondary education (VMBO), so it took some getting used to. Not all theory, but lots of practical learning. No different teachers all the time, just fixed class times. It's simply a different way of teaching.
During the Black Box project, we really got a taste of the craft. That was fun. At the beginning of the week, I had to make my own smoothie or juice using ingredients from the Black Box. By the end of the week, we had actual guests over for lunch.
We learned a lot from making mistakes. By gaining experience, we learned, for example, that we needed to communicate better with each other and with the chef. At the end of each day, we made plans to make the next day run better.
“I also enjoy the training because of the trips to a vineyard, brewery, coffee roastery and tea shop.”
