Summa and the Leiden Instrumentmakers School (LiS) are joining forces to train more precision craftsmen for the high-tech manufacturing industry in Brainport. Starting in September 2027, the Research Instrumentmaker program will begin at Summa. LiS contributes specialized knowledge of precision engineering and research instrument making, while Summa provides the regional connection with students and the business community. The collaboration is part of the national Beethoven Initiative and addresses the growing demand for technical talent in the semiconductor industry.

With the new MHBO track from Summa, Fontys, and Yonder, ICT students are already working at a higher professional education (HBO) level during their final MBO year. This ensures they are better prepared for the transition and can obtain their HBO diploma a year earlier.
