Do you want to train construction students for more than just their trade?

At Summa Bouw, we are looking for a teacher who helps students look beyond technical execution alone. Someone who prepares them for the practice of tomorrow: digitally skilled, entrepreneurial, sustainable, and ready for changes in the field. You will primarily teach electives, as well as mathematics.

Your impact as a teacher of Electives & Arithmetic

  • You help students develop skills that are of direct value in construction practice.
  • You let students discover how topics such as digitalization, sustainability, entrepreneurship, and innovation are changing their profession.
  • You make lessons concrete and relatable for students at levels 2 and 3.

This is what you will do as a Teacher of Electives & Arithmetic

  • You primarily teach classes within various electives for students in the construction programs.
  • You develop and update teaching materials that are relevant to construction practice.
  • You also teach arithmetic.
  • You translate topics such as digital skills, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and innovation into recognizable real-life situations.
  • You guide students in their development and help them become more independent step by step.
  • You work with colleagues on education that aligns with BOL and BBL students.

As a Teacher of Electives & Arithmetic, you work within the Construction team at Summa in Veldhoven. You teach students in carpentry, painting, plastering, and tiling, among other subjects. You collaborate with subject teachers and report to the team leader.

  • A salary in accordance with the MBO collective labor agreement, scale LB, between €3.713 and €5.495 gross per month based on a full-time appointment.
  • Employment of 0,8 – 1,0 FTE.
  • A fixed-term contract with the intention to extend.
  • Year-end bonus of 8,33%, ABP pension fund, a laptop and phone on loan.
  • Develop yourself through training, a course or the annual development festival.

  • You have a PABO diploma, a teaching qualification, or are about to graduate.
  • You are strong in teaching and find teaching the most rewarding part of your work.
  • You have an affinity with MBO students at levels 2 and 3.
  • You can make lessons meaningful by linking them to construction practice.
  • You switch easily between different topics and groups.
  • You take initiative and enjoy contributing to lesson design.
