At Summa VOAT, vacancies for NT2 teacher/mentor arise regularly throughout the school year. We do not currently have a specific vacancy, but we would like to get in touch with enthusiastic teachers who are interested in newcomer education. This way, we can contact you as soon as a suitable opportunity arises.

Your impact as an NT2 teacher/mentor

  • You help young newcomers learn the Dutch language and find their way increasingly independently.
  • You create a safe learning environment where students feel seen and heard and can develop.
  • You guide students in their development and help them work towards suitable further education and/or employment.

This is what you will do as an NT2 teacher/mentor

As an NT2 teacher/mentor at Summa VOAT, you work with young newcomers with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and language levels. You help them master the Dutch language and provide them with the foundation needed to take their next step.

  • You teach NT2 lessons and tailor them to the level and learning needs of your students.
  • You bring learning objectives to life in a creative and engaging way, using available teaching materials and resources.
  • You monitor the development of students and encourage and motivate them to take steps forward.
  • As a mentor, you guide students in their personal and academic development.
  • You provide structure and a safe and familiar learning environment in which students can get back to learning.
  • You work together with colleagues and other involved professionals regarding the student.

You are part of a committed and professional team within Summa VOAT. Together, you work to offer young newcomers perspective and prepare them for their next step in the Netherlands.

  • A meaningful role in which you contribute directly to the development and future of young newcomers.
  • A committed team where collaboration, development, and meaningful work are central.
  • A salary in accordance with the MBO collective labor agreement, scale LB, between €3.713 and €5.495 gross per month based on full-time employment.
  • A one-year contract, with the prospect of a permanent contract.
  • A year-end bonus of 8,33%, participation in the ABP pension fund, and a laptop and phone on loan.
  • The opportunity to develop yourself through a training program, course, or our annual development festival.

This is what we expect from you

  • You have completed a higher professional education (HBO) in a relevant field, preferably a Dutch teacher training program or the PABO.
  • You have an affinity for NT2 and working with young newcomers.
  • You are strong in pedagogy and didactics and know how to connect with different levels and learning needs.
  • You know how to motivate students, encourage them, and give them confidence in their own development.
  • You create a safe and positive learning environment while simultaneously knowing how to set clear boundaries.
  • You are creative in your lessons and dare to choose your own approach to help students progress.
  • You enjoy collaborating with colleagues and other professionals regarding the student.
