Security Officer 3 (work-based learning)

As a "Security Officer Level 3," you can work for a company's security department or a security company in various locations. You could work at hospitals, the airport, the municipality, or at companies on the High Tech Campus, such as ASML. You can also progress to a Level 4 program in "Team/Department/Project Management," "Facility Manager," or "Legal-Administrative Service Provider."

You work 4 days (at least 24 hours) per week. You also attend school one day a week.

Search by your Crebo number (see the box on the right of this page) to view the OER for the current academic year. This will give you a general idea of what's expected of you when you start the program. The OER for the upcoming academic year will be available in July.

The statutory tuition fee for the 2026-2027 school year is 762 euros.

This program offers several electives. These allow you to broaden or deepen your expertise or prepare you for advancement to a higher level.

To be admitted to this level 3 vocational training you need: 

• a diploma 'Security Officer (crebo 25407)' or 'Security Officer 2 (crebo 25690)' and;
• a valid gray pass.

If you already have an MBO-2 security diploma, you can follow a shortened course.

Work

To take this course, you must work at an accredited training company authorized to train at Level 3. If you don't work for such a company, we can help you find a suitable apprenticeship. You'll be responsible for finding one yourself.

You will be screened by the police before you can start at your training company. The training company will then apply for a "green pass" from the chief of police. To obtain this pass, they will check whether you have committed any criminal offenses. They will then determine whether these offenses will block your pass application. Without a pass, you cannot complete the program.

The police will review your personal file for eight years. If you have lived in the Netherlands for less than eight years, you must be able to provide a document from your country of origin stating that you have not had any contact with the police or the judicial authorities there.
