Welding at every level
In our coated electrode welding course, we can train you at any level: 1, 2, 3, and 4. You choose the training that best suits your needs: from basic technical skills to specialist training. The result is always a recognized diploma from the Netherlands Institute for Welding Training (NIL).
You'll be taught by instructors who are among the best in their field. You'll work in small groups and receive plenty of personal attention. The course consists of 20 percent theory and 80 percent practical assignments, so you'll be working independently for a lot of the time.

You will learn this
You will learn the professional skills of welding with a non-consumable electrode in inert shielding gas according to NIL guidelines. The course includes (depending on the level) the following topics:
- Reading and interpreting welding symbols for welding work;
- Setting up welding equipment BMBE;
- Bonding and welding sequence, taking into account shrinkage formation;
- Welding of composite workpieces in welding positions PA and PB (level 1) to welding composite workpieces in all welding positions (levels 3 and 4)
- Applying safety regulations.
- Determining electrode type, current strength and welding sequence.
- Theoretical topics such as material and welding research (ultrasonic, X-ray, bending test, etc.)
At level 4 you choose from:
- the welding of sheet metal connections
- the welding of pipe/pipe and pipe/plate connections.

Costs
The costs depend on the level and include 1 exam moment:
Welding BMBE level 1 – € 2.371
Welding BMBE level 2 – € 2.518
Welding BMBE level 3 – € 4.330
Welding BMBE level 4 – € 5.342
These prices are valid from June 1, 2026. Subject to interim price changes.
If the participant is already following a vocational training course at Summa, a discount of €275 will be applied.
Invoices for welding courses (daytime and evening) will be sent at the start of the course. Retakes will be billed based on a post-calculation.
Summa training courses and teaching materials made available by Summa are exempt from VAT. Read more about training costs.
Duration
- Level 1 and 2: maximum 17 evenings.
- Level 3 and 4: maximum 34 evenings.
Course days and times
Evening: one regular evening per week from 18:21.30 PM to XNUMX:XNUMX PM. If there's a specific evening you can't make, please let us know.

Employees who perform welding work and wish to further develop their skills in welding with coated electrodes.
Preliminary training
You do not need any prior training for level 1:
- To start at Level 2, you must have completed Level 1 or equivalent education/experience.
- For level 3 you must have completed level 2 or equivalent education/experience.
- For level 4 you need a level 3 diploma or equivalent education/experience.

Certificate of Education
You complete the course with a NIL exam and a NIL diploma.
